IGM University’s Faculty of Medicine was established in response to the urgent need for qualified medical personnel in South Sumatra. On September 8, 2021, IGM University held a medical education workshop involving various parties, including the South Sumatra Provincial Government and the Indonesian Medical Association of South Sumatra Region. This workshop resulted in a commitment to establish a Medical Study Program with a focus on the health excellence of wetland medicine, specifically related to water-related diseases. IGM University established a partnership with the Faculty of Medicine of Sriwijaya University to support the development of a medical education program. In addition, IGM University also collaborates with several hospitals, such as H.M Rabain Hospital, Hermina Hospital Palembang, and a number of other hospitals as network teaching hospitals. The existence of the Faculty of Medicine aims to answer the challenges of doctor distribution in areas that lack medical personnel, as well as contribute to the improvement of health services in South Sumatra.
To become a medical education center that is able to compete globally by producing graduates who are professional, have integrity, uphold human values to fill and or create job opportunities.

- Organizing research that is able to answer problems in the fields of medicine and health in Indonesia and the world;
- Organizing community service that can be a solution to problems in the fields of medicine and health in Indonesia;
- Increasing cooperation with various domestic and foreign institutions, both corporations and universities in order to improve the quality of graduates, and educators who have an entrepreneurial spirit and master the latest information technology;
- Developing a religious campus life with the principle of exemplary, to build Medical Human Resources with strong character and integrity.
