IGM Kindergarten is an early childhood education institution located in Palembang City, precisely on Jalan Kolonel H. Burlian, KM 9.5, Karya Baru Village, Alang-Alang Lebar District. Established on June 23, 2015 by Indo Global Mandiri Foundation, IGM Kindergarten is here to make a real contribution in advancing early childhood education in this city. At the beginning of its establishment, the school was named PG – TK IGM and started with 54 students divided into Play Group, Kindergarten A, and Kindergarten B classes.

The main vision of establishing IGM Kindergarten is to complement the existing education levels at Indo Global Mandiri, with a focus on developing children’s character and intelligence from an early age. In the first year, IGM Kindergarten was still under one roof with SD Plus IGM, but over time, in 2018, the Play Group (PG) program was closed due to decreased interest from prospective 3-year-old students. The focus was then fully shifted to kindergarten level education.

After five years of operation, on January 6, 2020, IGM Kindergarten officially stood independently and separately from IGM Plus Elementary School. With this step, IGM Kindergarten has its own organizational structure, similar to other early childhood education institutions, and is committed to always striving to improve the quality of education in accordance with the times and applicable standards. IGM Kindergarten adheres to the principles of 8 National Education Standards (SNP), which ensure that the quality of education provided is maintained and in accordance with the needs of the times.

The curriculum applied in IGM Kindergarten is the 2013 Curriculum (K.13), in accordance with the provisions provided by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud). This curriculum is designed to optimally develop children’s potential, taking into account their age and stage of development. The educators at IGM Kindergarten also have adequate qualifications and are linear with the educational objectives, to ensure the teaching and learning process runs effectively.

In addition, IGM Kindergarten always conducts annual evaluations to ensure that the education provided continues to improve and increase. Commitment to the quality of education, character development, and early childhood intelligence is a top priority. With a holistic and sustainable approach, IGM Kindergarten is determined to educate future generations with a strong foundation, so that they are ready to face the challenges of an ever-evolving world.

Based on data in South Sumatra in Figures 2006, it was noted that the number of primary schools (SD) or equivalent in the region reached 4,916 schools with a gross enrollment rate (APK) of 114.06%. This figure shows that despite the efforts of the government and the community, participation in primary education is still somewhat lacking. In response to these conditions, on March 6, 2006, the Indo Global Mandiri Foundation submitted an application to establish SD Plus Indo Global Mandiri to the Palembang City National Education Office. Two months later, on May 16, 2006, Indo Global Mandiri Foundation received the Establishment and Implementation Permit of Indo Global Mandiri Private Plus Elementary School issued by the Head of the Palembang City Education Office.

As time goes by, the license has been extended, which was originally valid until 2010, then extended until 2014. During the 6-year journey, this school has carried out various learning processes and development activities, both in terms of human resources and physical facilities. Until now, the number of educators and employees at SD Plus Indo Global Mandiri has reached 30 people, with a total of 335 students.

In addition, various achievements from both teachers and students have been successfully achieved and well documented. SD Plus Indo Global Mandiri continues to demonstrate its commitment in maintaining education quality assurance, both internally and externally, one of which is reflected in the A Accreditation obtained from the National Accreditation Board for Schools/Madrassas (BANS).

With this achievement, SD Plus Indo Global Mandiri remains determined to continue providing quality education that supports the development of learners in a holistic and sustainable manner.
