The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Indo Global Mandiri University (IGM) initiated a Seminar on the Educational Profession with the title The Role of Education and the Educator Profession in Accelerating National Development, Wednesday (13/12).
This activity became the attention of students as seen from the enthusiasm of students who crowded the seminar location which was centred on the 5th Floor Theatre Room, C Building, Sudirman campus.
Dio Resta Permana, S.Pd, M.Pd, Head of the English Education Study Programme at Universitas IGM, believes that a teacher or educator has a very important strategic role in developing students to become mature, independent, and have a good personality. In addition, the role of teachers or educators is very important in shaping student character, developing and developing human capital, social welfare, and the progress of the state and nation.
Teachers or educators must have different competencies, including pedagogic, personality, professional, and social competencies. Therefore, the implementation of this seminar opens the insight of all FKIP UIGM students to look closely at the profession of teachers or educators, he said.
He also hoped that this seminar could provide motivation for FKIP students as future teachers or educators to have strong motivation towards the programme they have chosen.
Obviously, students who take teacher education must be well prepared with pedagogical, personality, professional, and social competencies that must be acquired by a teacher or educator. FKIP UIGM students or future teachers are expected to understand and apply the 4 main competencies of teachers based on the Law for good teaching profession in providing a better quality of education, he explained.
