UIGM, Palembang – Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (UIGM) is committed to supporting the sixth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) set by the United Nations, which focuses on Clean Water and Sanitation.
This campaign is highly relevant, as clean water is a fundamental necessity for human health and quality of life.
The academic community of Universitas IGM recognises the critical importance of access to clean water and adequate sanitation to prevent diseases such as diarrhoea and cholera, which often arise from poor sanitation. Additionally, inadequate sanitation can pollute natural water sources and harm the environment. Consequently, the university is actively working to maintain water quality and preserve the surrounding environment.
As part of its contribution to the SDGs, Universitas IGM implements a variety of initiatives, including Education and Awareness Campaigns through seminars, workshops, and outreach campaigns aimed at raising awareness among students and the wider community about the importance of clean water and proper sanitation.
In addition, the university ensures stringent waste management practices on campus to prevent groundwater and environmental contamination. To enhance its impact, Universitas Indo Global Mandiri collaborates with local communities and government authorities on sanitation and clean water projects, such as water filtration and the construction of public toilets.
Moreover, UIGM conducts regular water quality monitoring in partnership with relevant parties and ensures proper maintenance of water filtration systems to maintain quality across the campus. (andhiko ta/dzulfiqor ammar)
